The Aftermath
How much input did Mr. Olmos receive from the "gang" itself. Were they satisfied with the actual protrayal or were they upset about it?

shareNo, they were pissed off, especially about the rape scene. Some of the actors were killed ordered by the real La Eme. One of La Eme leader, Joe Morgan(JD character) put a hit on the Director, James Olmos. Olmos feared for his life, so he got a permit for a handgun to protect himself. Rent the DVD, watch the extras about the EAST L.A. GANG GRANDE HAZARD.

Who were the actors that were specifically killed?

I don't know that any actors were killed, but it was technical advisors and such. I don't have the list with me, but when I find it, I will post it.

According to the LA Times (not exactly a great source), Olmos himself was targeted by the gang because the movie suggested that a leader (Olmos' character) of la Eme could consider leaving the gang. That was the unforgiveable sin.
Eventually they gave it up (the death sentence).
