Question about the ENDING need help from A MOVIE WIZARD:)

During the last scene we come full circle from the beginning and Santana realizes that his life is empty .. Ok we see him pack his things and it appears he knows what going to happen next .. Here is my question .. The members asked the other cell mate if he wanted to come out and he said no ... If Santana had stayed in the cell would that have been him giving up his position ? Why did he just give in without a fight ? Also was it JD that pushed the hit on him ? Thanks A LOT IN ADVANCE !!!!! Cory

reply

JD ordered it, but reluctantly. It was the whole click turning on him cause they thought he went soft. There was no point of him fighting cause he had nothing more to gain, only to lose and it was inevitable he was gonna die. He changed his life, but it was too late.

Thank You ....

Also, we see them ask the chino, "coming out?" and he responds "staying in." because he knew that they were going to kill Santana and he wanted nothing to do with it. We dont see him murdered but usually when a member of a brotherhood so strong as "eme" is, any kind of defiance when a superior orders is essentially death. So we don't see him killed but we just assume so.

On the real last scene of the movie why does that kid shoot at that gang?

ClenRen, I think it was just a typical 'After School' message that Olmos was going for.

And, were you guys aware that the real life incident that Santana's death in American Me was based upon was actually committed by the Nuestra Familia (Northern California Mexican prison gang)? That was supposedly the reason extras around the set were murdered by the real life Mexican Mafia, that and the rape scenes, which, according to bloggers and those who claim to be in the know, Olmos was warned against, due to the fact that the Mexican Mafia has always actually banned any homosexual activity out of it's members.

Where was Santana going to run to? PC? Don't think so. Once there was a greenlight on Santan he knew it was over. If he would of signed up to PC his family would of payed. Keep in mind I am going by Olmos interpretation of the movie, and not by the actual events.
