As a movie in the Franchise that has two action/horror classics,this movie needed massive thing happening in it.But if you lower your expectation it has a great atmospheric tone,unique from other previous movie.
This movie may even have had influenced B-movie makers(monster movies) to focus on artistic side,character building and direction rather than just blood and action.
This is a must watch for those low budget monster movie makers.
I don't understand why this movie gets so much *beep* I almost prefer this to Aliens. I think both versions of the movie are great. It's got some great actors, great atmosphere, and contrary to what others say, looks brilliant aswell.

Alien 3 is a great movie on its own. Not quite so great if compared to its predecessors, but we could have gotten a lot worse. Imagine if it had been something like Prometheus, or even Alien vs Predator 2. Jikes. Whether you love or hate Alien 3, I'd say we lucked out on Alien 3, because it has a lot of qualities that sadly all too many people are ready to overlook. I prefer examining it closely and appreciate the gems to be found. It's better than most movies being made these days, that's for sure.
