Interesting, but just ONE perspective from many.

I still think whatever troubles production is facing should not affect the end product. Cameron was in fight with almost his whole crew whilst filming Aliens. Ridley Scott was in fight with Fox during filming Alien. Did this affect these movies? Yes, it did, but these are still masterpieces.

I think the problem of Alien 3 is not the turmoil during production, but the lack of true vision. It was just a washed-out version of Alien 1, without any standout or interesting elements. The cast and crew tried to make the best out of it (as evidenced by this diary piece), but from big picture perspective it was not enough.

I was looking back to see if you were looking back at me to see me looking back at you

All studio movies have egos. The stories of stars being "a dream to work for" are false. The best indication of these relationships, generally, are how many times they work with that actor.

Case of exception would be Herzog and Kinski - With Herzog threatening to kill Kinski and then himself on the set of Aguire: Wrath of God, but they went on to make more films together - Nosferatu, Fitzcaraldo, Cobra Verde...
