this surprised me a lot , I wonder with that script would it have been that different though, his style would be different but not sure the atmosphere would be , I wonder how he would have handled the death of newt , Ripley and Hicks

For all its undercooked aspects, I don't think Scott would have created something as starkly disturbing as Alien 3 at that time in his career. Although Hannibal (2001) shows that he certainly could have but I doubt his mindset was wanting to make those kinds of films right then and Prometheus shows that he seems more interested in the philosophy than the tension. The first shot is actually filmed in north east England and it has many English actors so, in effect, it's as if David Fincher was partially playing at being Ridley Scott, and partially playing at being a grunge filmmaker. The tunnels are like a prototype for the Prodigy video Firestarter, the orange brown hue like the Smells like Teen Spirit video.
It's a shame to think back to what the Alien franchise might have been. Ridley Scott said to Fox that he would do the third film of they could convince James Cameron to do the fourth one. Now for whatever reason this never came about but imagine what the Alien family of films could have become if that arrangement had happened.
