WTH? Uncut version aired on DISHNET?

OK,

so what got me started here in making this thread was I loved this movie as a kid and eventually got the DVD, I remembered all of it from start to finish, even the ending when they all supposedly start arguing in the cop car and the credits roll.

So tonite I couldn't sleep and was going through the DISHNET guide. I looked and on ENCORE WAM, channel 347 was airing 3 NINJA's so I decided to watch it.

During the movie I noticed that some of the music was different and I swear I thought certain scenes looked longer, then when we got to the school yard and seen the B-BALL game, they lost. I was like WHAT THE HELL?!?! This cant be right this cant be the same movie. So I watched it to the end and kept pinching myself to see if everything was OK. I noticed some more scenes that I never seen before, like towards the end of the movie when the kids are in the cell and COLT is talking to the door, I was laughing like LOL WTF I never seen this before.

So, I watched it to the end and waiting for the credits to start rolling and then OMFG I witnessed another scene. It was like 2 minutes long. They were walking home with Emily complaining that they had no bikes and the bullys show up again. The fat brown one starts pushing around Rocky and Emily is like "ok, you can show off" then Rocky goes and kicks his @$$. They get their bikes back and the bullies scram off.

When I seen this I was like OMG I NEVER KNEW THIS EXISTED. I can't believe I have seen this movie so many times and watched it SCENE FOR SCENE to know an almost 10 min longer version existed.

After watching this new one with the awesome fight of the bullies at the ending this is by far THE BEST VERSION of the movie.

Why did they cut it and re-release it. Stupid Disney, that makes me angry. So I popped in my DVD to confirm and yup don't have this on my DVD.

So the version that ran on DISHNET was the longer and far superior version of this movie. I want this movie on DVD now, I am so upset. The DISHNET one was the best 3 NINJAs I ever seen. Extra fights and scenes and everything and it was in ENGLISH!!!

Can anyone help me locate this DVD or FILE. Even if you have an .ISO I will gladly PAY for a copy of it. Please post here to contact me, thanks.

I've got the uncut version recorded on my DVR, but I'd have no idea how to transfer it over to my hard drive. I wish I could share it with everybody but I don't really have the means.

from what i know or heard on other people here if you have an older model PVR you need some special USB to AV cable adapter that you can get at Wal-Mart or a computer store to transfer PVR to computer. I'm not sure what format it does either. AVI maybe?

Then you needa program like NERO to burn to CD or DVD, and but then you can only watch it on a computer unless you like convert it to a DVD.

I just want to have a copy of it, watching on a computer as AVI is just fine.

Go to google and type in PVR to computer and it will tell you what to do or buy to make it go to a computer.

Please if you could do this, I would pay to have a copy shipped to my house so I have the TV version, please please please.

thanks

With no luck finding it, I decided to go splits with my brother and buy a standalone DVD RECORDER UNIT. They are about $100. No sooner then buying it about 3 days later we saw this movie was about to air on DISHNET.

we popped in a blank DVD-R and hit record. recorded this movie from beginning to end. the full thing, no glitches and quality is amazing i must say!!! i am so happy, now I am recording this and tons of other movies into my collection.

the dvd-r machine is the greatest ever, dunno why I didn't think of it years ago.

i am willing to sell some copies for s/h and postage. pm me if you want a dvd of this original version.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I was watching it on STARZ a few weeks ago and bam it was a totally different movie. They are supposed to win the b-ball game and get the bikes back, and at the end they are supposed to be arguing after their old man says he is going to take them out for pizza to which grandpa shouts "BOYS!" and the credits roll up and they say "Sorry Grandpa". Low and behold the movie I see has them losing the game and getting the bikes back at the end by Rocky kicking that fat kid's ass and the rest of them running away. Why the hell didn't the movie end this way in the first place? I would have much rather seen that ending as a kid than the original one I saw when it first came out on VHS.

i actually liked the older version better. a lot of the differences in this version seemed very lame/corny. the original was much better.

reply

I second that. I'm watching the uncut version on Encore right now and I don't like these differences at all.

I don't know why they would have 2 versions of the basketball game. Honestly, of the entire movie, THIS was the scene that they couldn't decide on? To have them win or lose the basketball game?

I thought having them lose was kind of a buzzkill. Colt's sitting there in his dad's office kind of moping and his mom tells him to go to bed, I wish she would just leave him alone, he just lost a basketball game, dammit. And there's no way Emily would go over and help them that night since they were probably just too busy showing off to get her bike back. I thought this version sucked.

Also, way to go bullies, they gave you a 9 point lead and you still only won by 2.

I just saw this movie and I noticed the same thing, longer scenes as well as new ones. So, I came here to find out if I could find any info. Guess I wasn't the only one who noticed this. I just saw it on Encore Wan. I liked this uncut version better!

I thought the same thing too when I saw the b-ball game. I was like, wait-a-minute, didn't they win. That's when I noticed the rest of the differences. I grew up loving the cut version, so I don't know how I feel about the changes. I was a little dissappointed in them losing the game, but some of the additional stuff with the kidnappers was funny.

I was angered by the losing of the basketball game, but that allowed us to have an extra scene of Rocky kicking the bully's ass, so I've made my peace with that change. Also, as Grandpa finished off Snyder, he didn't honk his nose before dropping him. This is also a change I fully support. While much of the film is rather corny, the nose-honk was too corny. The corn got stuck in my teeth. When it wasn't there, I didn't miss it.

This movie was also part of my childhood, I'd been taking karate since I was four and got this film from a friend for a birthday gift. I remember watching it all the time when i was younger, but then came the day when I was in my teens and idiotically decided to get rid of all my 90's childhood movies. Awhile back I caught this on TV and also noticed a whole bunch of different scenes which I surely hadn't seen before in my life! I don't know if this has been posted yet, but for anyone curious, here are a few of the alternate scenes from the other version of the film:

I'll admit seeing the uncut version was a cool and new experience but I prefer the original version. but I do think they should have put the scene where snyder takes out 2 more FBI agents I think that scene would have shown us that Snyder is the most dangerous villain in this movie.

reply

Everyone talking about the basketball scene change so here's my take.

The director probably looked at it and thought this: Grandpa thought the moral teachings of being a ninja were just as important as the physical training, a ying and yang where both work in solidarity to support the other. When one breaks down, you get someone like Snyder

So for the kids to stand by their word regarding the bet they make (and lose) with the bullies only to just kick their ass and take the bikes back by force at the end of the movie didn't make sense.

Thus, just reshoot that one basketball scene and have them win honorably.
