To me, Depardieu was a good choice but I would have prefered a spanish or italian actor to play Colombus. Really I would take spanish actors basically because America was discovered by Spain. I am not defending Spain just for being spanish, it's just an atmosphere question, really i also think that they should have spoken in old spanish. But I think the same of all films, is for that reason that I liked much The Passion of the Christ. The fact that they would have spoken in latin was simply sublime. But it's my opinion obviously.
