Does the story of the hat ever get told in the Chronicles? Or did they just skip it?

you learn about the hat at the beginning of Last Crusade, where we see young indy being chased by some other archaeologists coz he's stolen their find. anyway when they finally catch up with him the main archaeologist gives indy his hat and the rest is history as they say...

First off in the series we had Corey Carrier play Indy between the ages 9-11, we then don't see him again until the flash-back in The Last Crusade which is set in 1912 and Indy is 13-years-old. It is a further four years before we see Indy again in 1916, now aged 17 and played by Sean Patrick Flanery. A gap of four years is sufficient time for people to have accepted Indy and his new hat, why would he have to keep on explaining himself four years later?
