X-men Animated Series Vs Spider-man animated series

Hi,

Currently i'm watching a lot of superhero animated series. So far I've watched Spider-man (90's) , x-men (90's), Avengers : Earth Mightiest Heroes and now I'm watching the Batman Animated Series. Cartoons i've yet to watch are; Superman TAS, Batman Beyond, Justice League and Young Justice.

My question to you since they are very similar in drawning style... Which cartoon do you prefer the most... Is it X-men ? Or Spider-man? And Why?

IMHO i think X-men is the winner. Alhough Spider-man was very enjoyable it sometimes felt very rushed and a little bit too much. X-men blew my head off with its first two seasons and there are storylines in it which are far more interesting than the spider-man cartoon.

But what's you opinion?

Thanks for the reply. I thought there was a movie in the making called X-men: Apocalypse. I hope they refer to the villain. Time Fugitives is indeed one of the better episodes. All the episodes involving time traveling i do like a lot :D

X-men. Such a good strong plot and storyline, characters strongly built, and the X-men are truly a team here. However the quality started to drop towards the end of the series.

I liked Spider-man, but I felt things seem a bit rushed at times. And there was a poor use of the villains. I mean two of Spidey's top foes Green Goblin and Venom both only get 3 episodes against him(not counting the episodes where Harry is the GG). Doc Ock appears in 12 episodes, which would have been cool if he wasn't Kingpin's lackey after his debut episode. Meanwhile Kingpin appears in over half the episodes and Morbius(a C-list villain) appears in 8. By season 2, he already appeared in more episodes than Green Goblin and Venom would ever do throughout the entire series.

That's why Season 1 of Spider-man was my favorite. Good strong episodes, good use of the villains who get to shine in their own episodes solo without being tied to Kingpin (who is also used only when necessary in this season and wasn't forced in any of the episodes). We rarely got that afterwards. Season 2 was good, but the decline started here with Kingpin being over used.

Both shows did have poor animation at times. Especially Spider-man. Starting from the second season episodes would constantly reuse stock footage and it got worse as the show went on.

It's amazing how people hang around message boards of movies they don't like

Thanks for your answer and I can't agree more with you. The first season of Spider-man was also my favourite and the best. I also liked the third season because of the Green Goblin epsiode. The scene where Harry Osborne intimidates Peter was very good. Those were little touches i missed through the entire series.

The last season of X-men was indeed not as great as the previous ones, but i still liked a couple of the episodes like Descent and The Fifth Horsemen (I'm a huge fan of Cortez' over the top voice acting).

Spiderman:TAS was all over the place and got neutered by parent groups.

x-men was more sophisticated, had more depth, and had better drawings.
Most of the important events in comic books were covered very well in X-Men animated series. There were lots of cool characters.
On the other hand, spider-man animated series' drawings and animations weren't as good as X-Men's. And the stories weren't that exciting.

X-Men is definitely the superior show. I only liked the first season of Spider-Man and even that wasn't as good as the first four seasons of X-Men.

There is a reason why this got a comic sequel and Spiderman didn't.

In my opinion, Spider-Man: TAS was a vastly superior show. I realize I'm in the minority here, especially since I'm on a thread for the X-Men Animated Series; but I just felt I needed to state my views. I feel like X-Men: TAS is overrated. I didn't grow up on it, but I recently tried to watch a couple episodes since it is rated so highly on here. I found it to be unwatchable. It seemed obvious that it was made strictly for children, by the nonsensical plots and constant preaching about how we all need to tolerate differences and accept people who are different. I also find it funny how people criticize Spider-Man: TAS for being so "censored" when in reality X-Men was equally as censored. Like how Wolverine was basically useless in terms of using his claws unless they were fighting robots.

I just recently re-watched Spider-Man: TAS and I found that it absolutely still holds up and I really enjoyed working my way through all 65 episodes. It's certainly not a perfect show, and while it too is aimed at children, I can watch it as an adult and really enjoy it (unlike X-Men). I think the reason why is Spider-Man: TAS has better writing. The dialogue specifically is less corny/cheesy than X-Men and the voice actors are better too IMO. Also, the stories for the most part are daring and epic. They mostly follow the comics, but the show wasn't afraid to stray from the comics to be more original and keep you guessing. From what I understand, X-Men: TAS was very strict to the comics and to me that shows a lack of originality on the writers' part.

Both XMen and Spiderman...

specifically, the mini series where xmen crossed over to the spiderman series, and he mutated into a giant spider. That was epic, they should have made a marvel overpower character called 'the man-spider' to represent him... more strength, more energy, lower fighting (lower intellect depending on the deck).

Spiderman was also a little more angsty, Peter was always going through some horrible drama. I was a teen at the time it aired, so I identified more with that show due to going through my own teenage angst, and Parker was closer to my actual age at the time verses the xmen characters, who are mostly older (20-40)
