90s kids unite! The team that brought forth X-Men: The Animated Series is reportedly trying to make a comeback. According to a report from Borys Kit and the team at THR, the creators behind a series that spanned much of the 1990s is currently working to put together a pitch for the team at Disney. The report quotes X-Men artist Larry Houston is that the goal would be to continue right where the show ended.

"The one thing we'd like to do more than anything else is to continue where we left off," Houston said.

Running for a total of 76 episodes over five seasons, X-Men: The Animated Series was one of the first major cartoons to deal with serialized storytelling, carrying arcs through multiple episodes. The initial series was funded by Saban Entertainment as Marvel was going through a bankruptcy at the time and Avi Ara, Stan Lee, Joseph Callimari, Winston Richard, and Eric S. Rollman served as executive producers.

Now that Dark Phoenix has entered theaters, the future of the X-Men film and television properties are currently in limbo as Disney and Marvel Studios decide what to do with their newly acquired assets. Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige previously said it'd be a "long time" before the X-Men made it into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“It’ll be a while. It’s all just beginning and the five-year plan that we’ve been working on, we were working on before any of that was set,” Feige previously said. "So really it’s much more, for us, less about specifics of when and where [the X-Men will appear] right now and more just the comfort factor and how nice it is that they’re home. That they’re all back. But it will be a very long time.”

They messed it up by cancelling the gambit movie. I KNOW disney did not want to show superhero like Gambit. Uh yeah but this IS who he is. Heck they showed a LOT on Saturday morning. Okay they did not show him in the sack with somebody but it was fairly suggestive for being a cartoon which lots of kids were watching. Live action was going to show much more.

Make this happen!

TOO LATE..THE ANIMATION WILLBE COLD AND MODERN.CANT IMAGINE IT COULD REPLICATE THE QUALITY OF STORYTELLING EITHER.

If it's going to look anything like the new She-Ra reboot (badly drawn and animated), forget it.

oh good somebody else hates that. I loved she-ra as a child and am TICKED re the reboot. it's suppose to make her 'hip' but it looks like somebody was high when they did this.

They are going to be rerunning it on the streaming service. Could that be what they mean about bringing it back?

X-Men The Animated Series Revival Discussed: "Up To Disney"

https://officialfan.proboards.com/thread/603043/animated-series-revival-discussed-disney

The producer of X-Men: The Animated Series has confirmed discussions about a possible revival of the beloved cartoon and said the ball is now in Disney's court.

Speaking during the Wizard World panel, producer and director Larry Houston said he's "made conversation" with Disney about bringing X-Men: The Animated Series back. "We've had talks, but that's about it," said Houston. "We've made conversation and it's up to them to make the decision, but we've let them know that we're all available for whatever they want to do in the future."

He concluded, "Whatever they wanted to do if we had all the original team. That's what I would come out of retirement for." Houston's words were echoed by former cast members George Buza and Chris Britton, who played Beast and Mr. Sinister, respectively. However, Wolverine actor Cal Dodd noted that "nothing is coming to fruition" at the moment.[/quote]

X-Men: The Animated Series ran for 76 episodes from 1992 to 1997 and adapted major X-Men comic storylines including "The Dark Phoenix Saga" and "Days of Future Past." The core cast was a who's who of X-Men favorites including Wolverine, Storm, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Rogue, Jubilee, Gambit and Professor Xavier.
