So, this show influences absent parenting?

Don't get me wrong, as a kid I watched Round The Twist all the time and loved it. But something that used to play on my mind was the fact that Pete Twist (the teenage boy) had a baby then - zip nada, never saw it/mentioned it again and if I remember he was going to leave with this girl (Ariel?), without giving his kid a second thought?

Also there was this episode where all the parents disappeared, and I used to wonder why Pete didn't disappear. Yeah I know its a kid's show and its no soap drama, but hell if I picked this up as a kid maybe other kids might pick it up too. Thoughts?
