The reason it was so awful

Craig Charles MADE Lister a reality. If you compare the two, it's so obvious. People have to see that he's really rough and disgusting, but he's got a good heart. Plus, he had AMAZING comedic timing.

Putting all the characters together as well, they all had great chemistry and could bounce ideas, jokes, general chat around and it felt really natural.

The casting was really wrong, and they missed out all the wordplay - and wordplay is what Red Dwarf was mostly about.

Red Dwarf USA felt like a dodgy episode of Friends. YUCK!
