What Mike Said Was REALITY, Not Racism

Like black people DON'T get ashy? Why is it racist to point out reality? Black people are known for putting coconut oil on their skin. So? People need to grow up. That was not racism.

Every race gets dry skin.

Black people have been put down because of their skin for centuries. People have been trying to make them feel like they are less than based solely on their skin, if you haven't experience this, I understand why you wouldn't consider his comment to be ignorant. He wasn't trying to be informative, he was being insulting and meant it as an insult.

reply

"he was being insulting and meant it as an insult." Are you psychic? How do you know? He didn't say it with malice, he was teasing her because she said she was flirting with another black dude. Just like if it was a white dude some black guy might say 'oh well enjoy your mayonaise sandwich' or some junk like that, I hear it all the time. Cry more.

Lol who's crying? I was just sharing why the comment could be seen as inappropriate to POC. Also... Who says mayonnaise sandwich? Is that common? If so, since when did that happen? Does that have any cultural significance to white people? How does that equate to the skin thing? I don't think calling someone "Mayonnaise sandwich" is as common as you think it is, I've literally never heard that in my life.

reply

Tumblr: white people are all disgusting mayonnaise lol. http://mayo-is-a-racial-epithet.tumblr.com/

Since when is tumblr an archive for accurate representation of racial history? I'm with whoever mentioned they've never heard "mayo people" or "mayo sandwich" or w/e the hell used as a racial insult against white people.

Comparing some made up stuff off tumblr to the generations of discrimination that black people have endured in the US is ludicrous. Your argument is weak.

reply

it's been said....eddie Griffin included the reference of mayo in his film undercover brother coupled with hot sauce......and that white rapper old show on mtv had "you got mayo" instead of mail blurt out loud throughout the house

Like someone else said, he said it with malice. It doesn't help that he thinks he can say n_gga just because he lives in Spanish Harlem. It doesn't matter in the long run. White people like him(not all of 'em, just the ones who think they're down and hood because of their location, friends, the music they like, the girls they might have slept with, etc) will always say that word and defend it rather than changing their ways.

They can say it. Anyone can say it. If black people can say it all the time for any reason good or bad or inbetween, everyone else can say it too. And you guys make fun of other black people all the time for being 'ashy' and that isn't 'racist'.

reply

Lol not at all, but okay. If you truly feel like that, then go say it in the hood. It's not racist because it's generally accepted for people of the same ethnic group and race to joke about cultural things whereas an outsider can't. They haven't lived/experienced anything like that, so it doesn't make sense.
Anything to excuse the use of the n-word though...

I never said that all black people have the same experience, but if that's how you feel then sure. I'm from the 'burbs and didn't have the same experience as black people in the hood. I'm responsible for myself and my own actions, just like a non-POC that wants to say n_gga in the company of other black people is responsible for whatever may happen after it. Plain and simple. I'd never call any of my Italian friends Italian words. I don't call any of my Latino friends mamacita or papi because it's just corny, but if that helps you sleep at night then that's cool, too.
If black people are animalistic and emotional, do mass shooters and serial killers set white people backwards every time it happens? Or does that not apply whenever that happens? The same could be said to a minority that walks into a white neighborhood saying cracker and whatever else white people may find offensive; I wouldn't condone it at all, but if he or she was attacked then that's that. It's nasty and unnecessary, but that's a really preventable situation. It's a matter of respect, and it's disrespectful to use a derogatory term like that.

LOL @ you claiming italians use the same words equivalent to *beep* in popular culture, get the *beep* out of here. LOL @ you now backpeddling cause you grew up outside of the hood, but still feel entitled to use the N word right? So POC can say *beep* now? any POC? Where do you draw the line? white people false analogy, white people don't freak out and assault someone over a WORD on a common basis. especially not a commonly used word that is tossed all over the radio and popular music. LOL @ you claiming white people would throw hands after being called 'cracker'.

reply

I mean...why wouldn't I be allowed to say a word that black people reclaimed long after it was a derogatory term? I'm black and while I cringe when non-black POC say it, it unfortunately happens. Same with white people. You can't really stop someone from saying something unless that individual chooses to stop. N_gga is typically a censored word on the radio, even on urban stations, but if you feel that way then you feel that way.

Skin's not ashy if you put coconut OIL on it. His stupid comment didn't make sense and he got mad because instead of keeping his dumb comment to him and herself she told the other roommates. He knew it was going to piss everybody off so he left.
