Just saw this again, it's been a while, saw it when it came out in the early nineties, and it was just as memorable today. As soon as I saw the boy in the cell, I remembered what happened, it was almost unbearable to watch those scenes with his parents unfurl...Helen Mirren was so incredible, I almost couldn't watch it. I always thought Prime Suspect, the original, was the best, but I have to admit, I think PS 2 is every bit as good. Being a Brit, I loved seeing all the Brit stalwart actors on her team, so realistic and totally believable. Loved how everyone was smoking, no computers, no cell phones, takes me back! Loved seeing Colin salmon again, I always thought he would have made a great James Bond. Yes, James Bond. I know he was in a Bond movie but he really should have been Bond himself.

I can't explain how much this series has really surprised me. This season 2 that I just watched, has totally tore at my heart strings. I don't think I have ever felt such emotion while watching any crime/drama on television, and I am an avid fan of many here in the U.S. This particular season has literally brought tears to my eyes more than once. I can feel the emotion that the cast members are going thru, and it is so believable. I am totally enthralled with this, and am such a fan of Helen Mirren!! I am wondering how the U.S. remake will fair in comparison.

I just bought Prime Suspect (1) and 2, and realized I really have to get them all....I haven't seen them since I lived in England, I am now in California, and have converted all my friends to the show, i looked up all the plots on IMDb, and remembered the one with "The Street", Steven MacIntosh, it was brilliant, so I know I have to get that one for sure...he played one of the most brilliant villains ever, totally memorable...I can still see him in that long coat.....if you haven't seen it, check it out, i think its PS 5...but not sure, just go to the cast list and see Steve MacIntosh. I am waiting for the US version, but from the clips, it doesn't seem to bear much resemblance to the original, but I love Maria Bello, so will check it out.
