Uncharacteristic error by Tennison

Her kissing Oswalde goodnight right outside her doorstep was a bit much. Huge inconsistency, considering the fact that Jane Tennison harped repeatedly on discretion from the very start of the episode. Also she was too smart to blow it like that. This kind of writing dumbs down the lead charcater who the audience has grown to admire. Pretty good watch otherwise, ofcourse.

Agreed. It was much more likely that they would've been extremely careful not to be seen.

On a similar note: I found it extremely unlikely that Sarah Allen would disrobe after her shower right in front of an open window. (Thereby allowing Jason to snap compromising photos of her from the street.)

LaPlante has written similar scenes in her other shows, like The Commander and Above Suspicion. In both of those shows, she has the heroine, both police officers, get involved with suspects. At least the character in Above Suspicion is a young officer, so they are more likely to make mistakes (though that's a whopper); but, a seasoned, senior officer, like the lead character of The Commander, would not make one like that.

Fortunately, Ah keep mah feathers numbered for just such an emergency!
