Is Costas Mandylor The Worst Actor of All Time?

I've seen this "actor" in a few other things before I started watching "Picket Fences," an episode of "Sex and the City" and some truly painful episodes of "7th Heaven." Well, I have now watched 7 "Picket Fences" episodes and he is just awful. I don't think I've ever seen a worse actor, he's just unwatchable. I have to look away. I can't believe how bad he is. Seriously, Elizabeth Berkely can give a better performance than him.

Opinions?

You know i had seen him in things in the past and never noticed he was a bad actor and maybe in some things he is good but I have been watching 7th Heaven and you are so right. he is terrible on that show. No enthusiasm at all when he talks and his interaction with his son Martin is just terrible.

I saw him in some movie called "Just Desserts" and I actually enjoyed him in that movie. Its sort of a dramatic romantic comedy and he is the main actor. Wow Just looked it up and Lauren Holly is the main actress. And they both starred on Picket Fences. I have not seen that show in forever so I cant recall his acting.

He's not a great actor, but I think he was fine in "Picket Fences". Wasn't playing the smartest dude in the world, even David E. Kelley sort of said he want a guy who could get physical if the plot called for it.

I think my distaste for him (which faded as I made my way through the first season and I kinda dug him by the time I finished it) started in the pilot when he shot the bad guy and delivered the cringe inducing line "Bad at math, good at guns." Yikes, that piece of dialogue hurt me.

"I've flown this route before."
"When was that?"
"IT WAS ON THE WINGS OF A DEMON!"

reply

well the 'bad at math' line was repeated from earlier in the episode so that's why i facepalmed at him, but since i enjoyed his performances in other movies/shows he's been in, i'd have to respectfully disagree with your initial assessment and say 'no' to the question of this thread.

I think he went to the Sly Stallone school of acting.

he is a great actor, actually went to school unlike most nowadays. true i didnt like picket fences, not cause of costas just not a fan of the show. but i love his work he did what he could with it, sure not alot of it is great, but i just watch it to watch him, at least he's working.

He's actually pretty good when you realize he's Australian and never once slipped up with his accent. That's more than I can say for Hailee Steinfeld, and she got nominated for an Oscar.

Plus, he was playing a character without much depth (that we saw).

Had to say something on my man's behalf. I adored him on Picket Fences, sure he played an oafish lothario of a man, but he was a good guy at heart. I could have kicked him in the crotch for that "Leftovers." comment he made to Maxine after they finally slept together, but that was a pretty accurate portrayal of a young, hothead officer who thinks in terms of violence first, ahem, Elliot Stabler!(and he's considerably older than Kenny Lacos was to boot!) Besides, if you want to see some of his best acting, look no further than Mark Hoffman in Saw 3-7, they build his character from the forensic examiner to the central character of the films, and I freely admit that he is what kept my interest in those movies I contend that he is the most intriguing psycho since Hannibal Lecter, and I say that because he captivates you with minimal screen time, his presence makes the films. Okay, I'll get off my soapbox now.

I've really only seen him in PF and I think he was fine in it. He was playing a bit of a dolt character but I always bought his character.

I've only seen him in Picket Fences, but he aced that role. It's hard to play a cop like that. He gives it lots of subtle humor. Love that guy.

reply

Probably not, as long as there’s Pauley Shore.

Stuff and nonsense. Costas Mandylor is an EXCELLENT actor!!!

reply

He’s not even the worst acting Mandylor, his brother Louis is worse.
