started amazing, then goes downhill

the first episode of On The Air is one of the most brilliant and interesting episodes of TV ever produced.. unfortunately after they captured lightning in a bottle there, it ran out of steam quickly.. it's almost as if a whole new set of people was brought in after that pilot episode..

it was almost unbearable by the end.. but i like to think of what it could have been - i don't see it having had longevity, but maybe some kind of mini-series would've been perfect for it (like Wild Palms).
