Filming Locations.....Some Insight Please...

Ok, YES i realize that this was filmed entirely in British Columbia. But I was wondering if anybody knows filming locations for these places:
1. what did they use for the interior of the tower? Was is all a set, or an existing building?
2.What about the exterior of the tower? What building was it? It looks like some skyscraper that was superimposed into the set.
3.What town/city did they use for Jays homeworld? (his home, school, city streets, etc)
4. What about the lighthouse?

If anyone has a clue, let me know...Maybe someone of you guys in BC would know?
In closing, I must say, its a shame that this show only lasted 3 seasons. It was an amazing, intellegent, and original show. Thankyou to the person who posted every single episode on YOUTUBE. Now I can watch it whenever I want!

I live in Vancouver, BC, as I have my whole life, and I remember when they were filming this show. I'd actually forgotten about it completely until I stumbled across this by accident, but way back when I was in elementary school I remember everyone being abuzz about how they were filming this cool new show in our own neighbourhood... and I remember my sister and I watching it and being totally addicted. Unfortunately at this point I remember almost nothing about it, although I'd love to see it on DVD if and when that becomes possible.

I'd assume it was filmed in Vancouver, as things are filmed here quite frequently. The Neverending Story, for example... all the city shots I recognize as being streets and buildings I drive by all the time... even the alleys I recognize. I can't really find pictures on the net of any of the stuff you're describing, so I can't offer much insight, but if you have decent pictures of anything from the show (streets, buildings, etc.) there's a good chance that I or someone I know might be able to recognize it. Reply on the board if you've got pictures, clips, etc. I can work from, and we'll see if we can't get in touch.

Wow I didn't think anyone would reply....anyhow, I was going to say that you could go on youtube and view every single episode. Unfortunately youtube has pulled the videos from it, so you cant watch them now...heres the link anyways.

Its a shame, I dont see how it violates anything bc these arent available on DVD anyways. Well thanks for your interest, and I will post another comment if I get any pictures or what not. Thanks!

Too bad! I can understand how having the episodes on YouTube would be a violation of copyright laws, as the shows do belong to someone who has not authorized them for free viewing, but it does suck... hopefully dvds will come out soon. We'll all be crossing our fingers until then!

In the mean time, please, if anyone has screen shots or clips that show city locations, please say so! I'd love to see if I can recognize anything.... :)

Success!! I actually stumbled across this by accident. I work at a library, and a book called "Reel Vancouver" happened to cross my path. I started flipping through it to see what had been filmed in my own backyard that I didn't know about... and what do you know, The Odyssey showed up! Here's a list of the buildings/locations that the book says are featured in The Odyssey, with links to pictures I found through a Google image search:

1. The Marine Building - (http://www.execu-suites.com/images/street3.jpg)

2. Vancouver Art Gallery - (http://www.eyeseavancouver.com/images/dt/DSC00036.jpg)

3. Stanley Park - (not bothering with pix cuz it's a freakin big park)

4. Lower Lonsdale <North Vancouver> - (another tough one for photos, because it's a large area, so here are several: http://www.covemortgage.com/images/Lower-Lonsdale-from-Water.jpg, http://www.alsutton.org/listings/444lonsdale/1.jpg, http://www.proventeam.com/listings/124w1/1.jpg, http://www.ontheroadin.com/miscellasneouspictures/lonsdale%20quay%20view.jpg)

5. Versatile Pacific Shipyards - (tough to find pictures of the classic shipyard because the area is being developed, so here's a scan straight from the book: http://www.geocities.com/anne_hathaway678/shipyard.jpg)

6. Simon Fraser University - (Where I got my degree! Tons of shows, especially space-y/futuristic ones, love to film there because of some of the unique building designs: http://cache.eb.com/eb/image?id=78534&rendTypeId=4, http://img.epochtimes.com/i4/311162426995.jpg, http://blog.elinc.ca/careerservices/wp-content/uploads/2006/10/52980023_729b9b2f1f.jpg)

7. Steveston Village <Richmond> - (http://www.foundlocally.com/Vancouver/images/StevestonVillage.jpg, http://www.whyvancouver.com/images/steveston-fishermans-warf.jpg, http://p.vtourist.com/746123-Steveston_on_the_Fraser_River_with_Mount_Baker-Steveston.jpg)

So there you go. Hope something rang a bell! :)

like many of the movies/tv shows filmed here in the vancouver area, it was filmed from the shores of stanley park in vancouver to the mammoth forests of golden ears provincial park. i have no idea how many movies/tv shows have been filmed here, but i recognize places all the time. would b nice if this show was on dvd, so many other shows shouldnt be, ha HAA ghost rider for instance. a lil off topic but that was the worst movie ive seen in recent memory, i walked out the theater lol

Wow tyger lilee, thanks so much for your efforts! This is pretty neat. I wonder what scene(s) they used the marine building for in the Odyssey....anyhow, I hope to get to Vancouver someday. The furthest west I've been is Radium and Calgary. Vancouver looks like a beautiful city with alot of neat history and architecture. Thanks again! If you have any other interesting pointers, feel free to post them here.
I know you posted there pics like 6 months ago, but I don't visit this page too often.

The Marine Building looks like the Tower.

Vancouver Art Gallery looked like the building where Jay was put on trial for drawing on the back of Brad’s picture. “What secret tower checkpoints?”

Steveston Village looked like the shops where Season 3 Jay commited his “crime” by stealing with the group of punk kids from the old shopkeeper. LOL
