Magnificent series!

I have known about "Mulberry" for some years, as my dear friend, June Barry, played her final role in it. However, I had never seen it, and only had a vague sense of the story. I received the DVD set a few days ago and was entranced! I never sit and watch a lot of television, but I viewed the entire 13 episodes in one sitting (with the occasional stretch, etc.). I feel that this is one of the most overlooked and underrated British series ever! It was beautifully produced and acted, moving me to tears more than once. The music was splendid (thank you, both Chris-es), the writing fun, poignant, literate, and just a total delight! You just can't beat Esmonde and Larbey (The Good Life is a great favorite with so many of us!). They're simply the best. As far as ending the series "without an ending"...well, I rather liked it that way. I've been mulling several different outcomes, and that's the fun of how it finished. We can have it any way we want! Am I raving? I suppose so. This is one of those little "gems" that will, I think, eventually "come into its own." Now that the DVD has been released here in the US, I hope more and more people will view and enjoy "Mulberry."
A bit of trivia: June Barry, Caroline Blakiston & John Bennett (Elizabeth, Adele & Father Death), also appeared in "The Forsyte Saga" back in the 60's. If you've never seen it, rent or buy it--it far surpasses the remake, even in black and white!
