Watching final season for 1st time

And liking it so far! I will miss this crazy, melodramatic, wonderfully out of control show! Heard seasons 6/7 weren't that great, but I liked 6 and am liking 7 too. Maybe I'm too easy to please? Wish this show was just starting season 28! The Kyle character had turned out to be pretty entertaining. Loved the "Christine" plot line at end of S6.

Season 6 is by far the worst of the show, so many plot points that were just dropped and most of the new characters weren't clicking.

I personally like season 7. I think it was a huge step in the right direction, sizing down the cast was the right choice as it gave it a close-knit feel again and of course Lexi's transformation into Peyton Richards from Savannah was complete (why wasn't she written like this from the get-go, ffs?).

reply

Aah, Peyton Richards. I loved her, never forgot her and that great line 'relax, would you? You're in Savannah now!' Great series. Both of them. I miss Aaron Spelling.

reply

I was so disappointed when Lexi first appeared on Melrose Place and she was a nervous pill-popping trainwreck! Even if Savannah dropped off in the second season, Peyton Richards had at that point made an impression on a lot of people and then you write Lexi like that?

Geez, talk about not playing to the actresses strength.

reply

I personally think that it's the best season since season 4.

reply

I think James Darren was in this season and I remember him being very good in his Melrose role.

reply

I agree with you, season six and seven are just fine. People love to complain. :P

This is my first time watching Season 7 since its original date.

I rented volume 2 from the library. Volume 1 is missing. So I started watching it from the christmas episode.

The season is a bit horrid. Michael, Jane, Amanda, and Peter look so tired. The storylines are simply boring and contrived. At least the simple storylines from season 1 were realistic.

Lexi and Eve are great. Their fights are great.

Spelling recycled every thing from 90210 onto melrose place.

The After Dark/Upstairs bar
Ray singing/Eve singing
Palm springs/Palm springs
San Francisco/San Francisco

The repairing of Michael and Jane looks cartoonish. I hate their dialogue and storyline.
Being forced to spend christmas together is contrived.

I think characters needed to be more next door fresh faces with constant revolving storylines in pursuing careers and love, not already established characters.

The 1st season casting was excellent but after original cast members were replaced, producers didnt take careful steps in finding characters that stood out.

Omg, in the episode A Fist full of Secrets, there is a long shot of Kimberly arriving to Wilshire Memorial Hospital’s parking lot. You can see her inside the car but the scene is cut before she comes out of the car. I thought this was careless and interesting.

I have yet to see the rest of the season. I will post later my review.

Oh I forgot, the Ryan/Kyle fights were so juicy. Yum....

I really like this season, so your perspective will be interesting.

From what you said, I'll argue against you lol

reply

Cool.

The mood of the each season is somber. It feels like they needed something. spark??

What do you disagree with?

Btw, omg, Amanda's makeup and hair... horrid. She looks like a ghost. I wonder if she was high, recovering from a cold, just had her baby, ????

reply

Ok I finished watching the final season.

Why does Jane look numb. She just floats around waiting to be given a storyline.

Loved the fight between Amanda and her.

Very sad to connect Jane with Kyle (her real life husband at the time). What was the point of Jane returning? I would think because of something very important..

Peter and Amanda are like Billy and Alison. Both are codependent of each other. Anyone that got married to either one of them or dated, ended up solo.

Eve was awesome. I hate how Peter does her. He basically dumps her like a old sock. Eve should not have been crazy.

I hated the ending of the series. Not a good closure moment.

I rather have seen the camera go to each apartment door at Melrose Place and then the entrance doors closing.

The shots of the courtyard scenes were out of place. The essence of the courtyard was lost.
