Martin Lawrence or Jamie Foxx?

Who do you prefer?

Both shows was funny I'm going with Martin.

Martin. At least sometimes he could be a lovable character, Jamie was too full of himself. I also didn't like the fact that it seemed the audience on Jamie's show was always cued to applaud him when he entered the scene but no one else.

When theres no more room in Hollywood, remakes shall walk the Earth.

LOL!! And I thought it was just me.

Martin alllll day!

You do realize that Jaime Fox got ALOT of his skits from the tv show Martin?

reply

Well due to the fact that Bently Kyle Evans (friend of Martin), was co-producer and co-writer of both shows is the reason they had their similarities. But I'd have to go with Martin because his plethora of hilarious characters, my favorites being Mama Payne, had me addicted to the show.

Martin is naturally funny. Jamie tries to hard!

reply

I totally agree! Jamie tried too HARD to be funny while Martin did it with little effort.

Foxx had a funny show too but it's not on the same level as Martin.

Though a debate could be made between the lead characters, though I think Martin wins that too,...

Martin's supporting cast was a lot better than Foxx's to me.

I can only think of comparing Friends and Seinfeld, both are hilarious but Seinfeld's supporting cast was a lot better than Friends. So much so, Seinfeld's supporting cast is better than the Lead:).

Another decent comparison, comparing Foxx's BEST Episodes with Martin's best but again Martin wins (The Mack Episode, The New Jack City Episode, Keith Washington Episode,..) and has more to choose from.

But Foxx's episode with the WestSide Connection and when he was in Driver's Ed Class, cracked me up.

Ok you right I truly like Martin cast a lot better vs. Jamie Foxx cast. At least all the cast members Tisha, Tachina, Tommy, and Cole was all funny. Jamie Foxx leading cast was kind of bland the guy that played Braxton, Fancy, and Aunt Helen wasn't that funny. The guy that play Uncle Junior was funny he was funny in Martin I wish he would have been a permanent cast member on Martin.

reply

Martin. There's no comparison. Jamie had funny moments but Martin is a classic. Martin is straight up magical at times. Jamie does try too hard and does bite from the Martin show but doesn't do it as well. Nevertheless they are both talented, the Martin show is in a league all by itself.

Jamie actually ripped of the Martin Jodeci skit. Not even close to being funnier than Martin.

reply

Can't argue with you on that,..and I LOVEs to debate, even when I know I'm gonna Lose:):):)

"Ohhhhhh Yeah!" Martin doing K-Ci on that episode.

Martin was funnier but Jamie Foxx was hilarious on his show in the first 2 seasons then afterwards he got annoying. This character imitations were the best when the show was finding his audience. Martin on the other hand kept up with the characters into when the show was a hit, but even though he slowed down a lot with different characters Martins jokes and episodes were funny up until the 4th season.

The problem with most shows especially black sitcoms that run about 5 season they usually do their greatest work in the beginning and then start to fall off by around the 4th season and then ratings drop and then the 5th season would be the end and those last episodes usually aren't the funniest.

I don't know why that happens just like Fresh Prince of Bel Air the funniest season was from season 1-4 maybe the 5th season, the 6th season the humor was still there but it was like they were trying to hard at that point and saying anything.

I hate that Everybody Hate Chris stopped at season 4 I can't help but wonder how the show would have played out if they continued up until season 6 maybe.

At least the Jamie Foxx show has some semblance of a plot. I never know what the hell is going on when I watch Martin.
