Anyone buy the full series set?

I'm a big fan from way back. Before the internet we had message boards, and the first one I searched for was for Mad About You.

Why did I preface with that? Am I just bragging?

Yah ok. Anyhow - did any of you buy the full series DVD set that is now available? I had bought each season when they first came out. I no longer buy DVDs or Blu Rays, since everything is streaming now. There's no need to buy physical media anymore.

But I'm curious if any die-hard fans out there bought the set, or if you were sick of having to wait for so long, that you just gave up. I didn't buy it.

I heard in an interview with Paul Reiser (not so much an interview - he was on an episode of Comedy Bang Bang) he said the reason why it took so long was because of the rights to the songs used in the later episodes. And not even songs that were used - but like if a character was whistling or singing a tune - that was considered a song and they had to pay for it. They worked out a deal where they paid a single lump-sum to whoever owned the rights to the episodes/songs (Sony?) and therefore the whole series was able to be released. You'll see other series coming out on DVD now because of deals like this. The shows are so old that companies are willing to let them pay a single fee to then release the shows on DVD.

I saw some reviews on amazon about people complaining about how it was packaged. So you're not alone!

It's Mill Creek. They do as little as possible to package whatever media they're distributing. For physical collectors Mill Creek is a blight unlike any other.

I have this set and honestly have no issues with it at all. It’s easy to store on my dvd shelf and the episodes look good to me.
