I can't put my finger on it but what is the character of Hank? Is he a colossal douche bag? An ass h o le? It seems like there's some pattern and method to him and that's what makes him so damn funny.

He's a used car salesman. Or a real estate agent. A more polished version, sure, but in that category. Amoral: can promote anything and believe in it for as long as the paycheck lasts. A booster. Not as obvious as a Herb Tarlek, but certainly more cynical. A true glad-hander.
