If you are still on the fence about getting it, I would say shop carefully if you can. I loved "Roseanne" (well, except for season 9) so I have the entire series on DVD. The packaging and formatting varies wildly; some of the versions I have used very very poor packaging--all the discs are in flimsy little paper envelopes and simply stacked together in the plastic box, not secured jewel case style. In one season's package, all the discs were in the SAME envelope, and of course a couple of them are scratched. Most of the ones I have were received as gifts, so I didn't see the packaging beforehand, but it's possible I wouldn't have been able to tell from the outside, anyway. If it's light and rattle-y, it might be a poor package.
Extras like commentaries and interviews are few and far between, and they are really, really poor. One season has several short interviews with Lecy Goransen, and she comes off as being stoned. I wondered if she might have been ill or injured and taking some sort of painkiller. She looks frozen, nervous, and completely awkward. Lecy is very pretty, but they somehow made her look really bad, maybe it was the makeup and lighting. She has a dopey smile plastered on her face, and talks verrrryyyyyy slowly, with a lot of dead air between sentences, and she just sort of rambles. There is one funny story about when the producers wouldn't allow her to cut her hair, and when Roseanne found out about it, she grabbed a pair of scissors and chopped Lecy's ponytail off.
I understand the first issue of Season 1 was issued with only the heavily trimmed versions that were used in syndication. There are full episode versions available now, but again try to shop carefully and be sure you get one that says "full uncut episodes" or something like that.
Back to the board's topic, the versions I have DO include several "tags" that segue into Jackie Thomas, and in one episode, there's a fairly long scene where the Conner family goes to a taping of the show and completely takes over the audience. Apparently she eventually got over the idea of pretending she never knew him.
