The Roads Not Taken: Missed Opportunities.

What are some ideas/follow-ups that you wish the show's creators had explored?

Connor McLeod could have shown up for Tessa's funeral. Why not have Duncan's kinsman return to comfort him during his time of mourning?

I think that Fake! Methos/The Messenger/Ron Pearlman should have starred in at least one more episode. There was much potential in an Immortal similar to Darius in philosophy but more active in spreading his beliefs.

It would have been nice to see Kassim make another appearance towards the end of the series. Even though he and Duncan clashed, it was clear that the man had principles (and not in a way similar to, say, Mako).

Finally, at some point, Charlie should have been made aware of the existence of Immortals. Seeing him die while never knowing the truth about his friend was especially heartbreaking.

It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing .

It has been a while since I watched the episode but I think that Duncan did tell Charlie about immortals in, the fourth season episode Brothers in Arms. It was as Charlie was dying. So, it was a bit late, but he knew.

There's plenty of fan-fiction writing out there that might cover some of these things.

Personally I just wanted more Methos-centric episodes, also, an episode dedicated entirely to 'The Watchers' perspective would have been cool, we did of course get the episodes "Judgement Day" and "One Minute to Midnight" but that was another Watchers vs Immortals scenario, I mean more just the Watchers doing their watching thing and learning more about the behind the scenes with them with an interesting story to go with.

more Methos-centric episodes

Yes! I totally agree with this. And, instead of Highlander the Raven, it should have been a Methos spin-off. The Raven was so bad, they literally gave away DVDs of it. I ordered a copy of the best of highlander. I was surprised when I opened the box and Raven DVDs were in there too. I looked at the invoice to make sure they hadn't charged more to my credit card than I had expected. The invoice showed that the Raven was a gift. ... but the good thing about the Raven was the behind the scenes segments. They had one that continued through each of the disk, it was basically about how everything went wrong with the Raven, the story was quite fascinating. It sounded like a soap opera, except it all was true, LOL. But, I digress. I wish there had been more Methos episodes and a Methos series.

Every Highlander the series fan out there is nodding his or her head in agreement with that.

Indeed, however I do wonder how viable it would have been.. Methos liked to keep a low-profile (at least how we are lead to believe) and thus might not have been very exciting to watch.. his flashbacks are always great though.. really, just a continuation of the series with more Methos or Methos-centric episodes would have been great.. he really needs the other characters to play off of.

A Flashback centric show focusing on his time between 4 Horsemen and Adam Pierson, Bookended by a smaller present day story would have been the best format

however such a show probably would need to be 10-15 episodes a season; the 22 episode syndication model of the mid 90s wouldn't have been kind to it, and at most it would have gotten a single season... (just like Raven)
