Why the Amanda hate?

Amanda was my favorite character. I liked almost all the characters, but she really stood out to me so I don't understand why there is so much hate about her.

Anyone want to say what it is was that turned you off to the character?

I"m not sure myself. My guess is it was her trickery. At first to be honest, I was surprised that Duncan cared so much about her, since she seemed to drive him crazy, and he talked about how much of a theif she was. But then she grew on me, and I think this just shows what a decent guy Duncan is, he sees the good in her! 😃

Speaking of Amanda, I was rewatching Lady and the Tiger like, just now and I couldn't believe it.

AMANDA TOTALLY INTERFERED IN AN IMMORTAL DUEL, and what does she get? A bloody Quickening. I'm beginning to think that these 'rules' are basically just suggestions.

It's too bad they didn't have someone break the holy ground rule so we could see what the consequences were.....

That would make sense since I always skip that episode. LOL

Assuming nobody already posted this:
I think Joe said the Holy Ground rule was broken at one place-Vesuvius, so I think it got taken to heart that it was a rule not to be broken.

Why can't you wretched prey creatures understand that the Universe doesn't owe you anything!?

I happen to have liked Amanda quite a lot, but man, Richie always got the worst of it in those episodes.

I always enjoyed her character, she is definitely a rogue who enjoys taking MacLeod out of his comfort zone.. and I think the Highlander likes it despite his protesting.

I agree. I think she was in love with Duncan.(Like Duncan's Paris neighbor pointed out in Legacy, a blind man can see it)! LOL!!!😉😘 And I do think Duncan truly did love her. I don't think it was a game.(Like someone tried to say it was).

In later seasons I liked her, though when they introduced her I thought she was terrible.

I think a few people felt the same way. Introducing a character as a thief is a terrible cliche and something out of an old video game, rather than a show that wants its characters to be taken seriously. When they started developing her relationship with Duncan she grew. I guess for some people the damage was done.

That's kind of what I thought. I never really disliked her, I was just kind of surprised that Duncan cared so much for her, considering how nuts she drove him at times, LOL!!!😄 Like in "The Return of Amanda," when she seemed to REALLY annoy him, and yet he goes to bed with her? But she grew on me, and I kind of thought that maybe that's just how Duncan is, he chooses to see the good in her, and even I believe he loves her, and she loves him. 💏

They definitely love each other, but I don't think it's the 'true love' kind of love nor the 'live together forever' type either.. maybe for a time they could live together.. but I think they must both realise that living together for an extended period would eventually result in them getting on each other's nerves.. I think their frequent partings and reunions are what keeps their relationship fresh and exciting but I don't think either of them would want to commit themselves or make changes in their lives to accommodate the other.. MacLeod does not mind the interruptions in his life from time to time where things get set into a mild state of upheaval due to Amanda's schemes and playful antics because once she leaves then he can put things back to the way he likes them.

Not me I loved Amanda almost as much as Bill Clinton did

reply

Because she was totally self-centered and was always bringing bad situations with her.

The only time I liked her was when she told Kenny off by warning him that if he ever harmed Duncan she would end his existence.
