Incredibly backwards and sexist show...

I'll admit I can't stop watching this, but it seems it was written and recorded in 1942 not 1992... Men complaining about women's periods, expecting women to put out after a "nice dinner", characters called Billy Bob and mammies... I get that it's about the south, but seriously? Was the 90s really like this?

Most of these representations are broad satires and not meant to be taken literally. That's the genius of Linda Bloodworth's writing-- she could get away with doing things that didn't seem politically correct, because she was actually making a political statement about the status quo and how some things never change.
