The First Season was the BEST!

Cooper and his two roomies were hilarious!! I laughed out loud in each eps. But then the show went down hill after season 2 with the changes!

I think the show was rather especially the 1st 2 episodes of season 1. I wonder if the show would have been totally different if the show would have reamined a more adult comedy show in seasons 2-5.

Wow, Dawnn Lewis was only in Season 1? I remember her being such a huge part of the show. Seems like more. Anyway, I enjoyed the show overall but first season surely was the best.

Rest in Peace Al Freeman Jr. An underrated talent and lovely spirit.

IDK the reason for the changes were because of the low ratings and they decided to make it more family oriented instead. And it worked since the ratings in the later seasons were much better. Nowadays it would have worked better as an adult sitcom since family friendly sitcoms have become a thing of the past unless you count Good Luck Charlie on Disney channel but that's the only one.

Love Les Miserables!!!

The first season reminded me of Three's company

First season: hilarious. Rest of the seasons: indescribable. I wish they would have kept Dawnn and Holly and worked with the script. Sandra Quartermain was about as funny as a leaky roof.

I was saying in another thread I think if they wanted a more family focused show they could have had Robin inherit the kid and retool it that way, not just get rid of Dawnn Lewis. I think when they got rid of her, they lost the comedic chemistry between Mark and Dawnn. That could have made ANY storyline work on several levels.

I preferred the more adult nature of the show. Dawnn made such an impact on it that it felt like she was featured in more than one season to me. I still think of her in relation to this series, along with Mark and Holly.

I have to agree, this show went to hell after the first season. There was no need to make it more "family-oriented". Full House already filled that niche and came on right before this. Why did we need two shows serving the same purpose? It's overkill.

Plus Raven was insufferable. She over-acts, which is funny because years later she ended up working for Disney. She fit right in there because all the other people on those live action shows over-act also, to the point where they don't even behave like humans - they're more like cartoon characters. It's surreal to watch. Geneva did the same thing. She was way too perky and animated to be taken seriously. Just awful to watch, both of them.

I actually think Raven's acting went back to being good when she got older but on this show her acting was bad. I have no idea why. I loved Geneva.

I agree.

was this the show that used the Growing Pains set in the Pilot?
