I wonder if Dorothy and Lucas should have been the co owners?

I was just wondering if after Dorothy's return in Seems like Old Times parts 1 and 2, I wonder if there could have been a way to keep the character around by stating that she and Lucas decide to be co-owners of the hotel since it would have allowed Dorothy to stay on the show in a recurring capacity.

No. Bea Arthur was ready to leave Golden Girls by the end of Season 5, at least that's what Rue McClanahan said in an interview I listened to several years ago. She probably only showed up for a guest appearance on Golden Palace as a way to show that she supported the show and wished it well. She probably would never have agreed to come back on for a recurring role. If the show had run longer - maybe for 1 or 2 more seasons, I could have seen her pop back in for another guest appearance though.

I agree. I don't think Bea would've done it. She's the reason why TGG didn't go for an 8th season so I doubt she would've been a big part of the spin-off.

Bea was the reason the golden girls worked and without there wasnt a balance. Too bad gloria didnt replace her.
