Should have brought back the cup in the finale

The pilot makes mention of the possibility of a third cup being out there somewhere. I always thought that it would have been awesome continuity for the series finale to bring that storyline back as the method for Nick to try and finally become mortal. Shame it was never touched on again.

I totally agree, they never mentioned the jade cup or Dr. Alyce Hunter again. We all know Alyce was alive as vampire, Nick never says a word again about her again. Interesting??

In the original pilot movie, Alyce died. This was changed for the series because they initially wanted to bring her back in later episodes.
IIRC, this idea was dropped because they felt (correctly, imho) Christine Reeves and Geraint Wyn Davies didn't have the right chemistry. Watch the original pilot to see what I mean. It may have plenty of faults, but the chemistry between Laura Johnson and Rick Springfield isn't one of them.
As to the idea of bringing back the cup, I agree that it would have been a nice bit of continuity, but they were clearly going for a Shakesperian Tragedy ending rather than a happy Hollywood ending. The cup would have let Nick live, and he doesn't get to live any more than Romeo or Hamlet did, just as Natalie shares the fate of Juliet and Ophelia.
