Question about Becky

I've recently been re-watching a few episodes on Youtube that I haven't seen in a long time. I watched Founder's Day today where we first see Becky Houser's character. In this episode, her mother dies from a burst appendix. She also has two brothers, one older and one younger. Then in later episodes, we see her living with another woman. Did this person adopt her? Did her father re-marry? And what happened to her brothers? In the episode Best Friends, Becky asks Colleen to talk to a boy that she likes for her because Colleen "has brothers" and is better at talking to boys. I'm just confused lol!

I guess that we're looking at another case of where different writers wrote different episodes of an older TV show, and they forgot to check for details from earlier episodes. Even when it's the same writer, he/she can some times forget about the details as the time passes on! This was very common back in the 90s, when there was no YouTube or Netflix or DVD releases. People were expected to forget all about what seemed like "small details", as there was no way to see earlier episodes again for many years (unless you were crazy enough to record every single episode on your own VCR). So there was no pressure on the writers to make everything correct. But now in the 2010's, it is very easy to binge on your favorite show and notice contradictions like this. So I guess that writers have to be a lot more careful these days...

Since Becky wasn't a main character, I'm sure they were counting on people having forgotten what they may have heard of details of her life. Either that, or the episodes are out of order, which many are on the DVDs. These kinds of discrepancies are not that important, imho.
