Degrees of separation... how many are there?

So I checked out She Cried No on Youtube a few weeks ago because I'm a huge Brandon Douglas fan (as many of you here probably know, at least vaguely LOL). That was also the main reason I watched the Growing Pains movie (the first one) back when it aired.

Watching him in SCN with Candace Cameron, maybe it was the whole 90's television thing and the networks' penchant for made for television movies at the time... but I had a nagging thought that these two are connected by separations. And, they are. Twice.

So...

Brandon Douglas was in the tv movie "She Cried No" with Candace Cameron who played his sister.

Candace Cameron's brother is Kirk Cameron. Kirk Cameron played Mike Seaver on Growing Pains.

On Growing Pains, Mike's little sister was Chrissy, who was played by Ashley Johnson.

Ashley Johnson is the younger sister of Haylie Johnson, who played Becky on Dr. Quinn, which, of course, brings us full circle to Brandon Douglas.

A much shorter connection would be when BD played Scott, Mike Seaver's eventual brother-in-law in the Growing Pains movie. He not only worked with both the Camerons, but he worked with both of the Johnson sisters as well between those three. I guess Hollywood was a small, small world back then, especially for television actors.

It's Sunday morning, my coffee isn't kicking in yet, I didn't sleep well. Forgive me LOL my brain is prone to squirrelling under these conditions and then analyzing the squirrel and where I've seen him before and how he's connected to other squirrels! :P

Brandon Douglas had also played a one-epiode villain on "Dr Quinn" only months before he joined the regular cast as Andrew.

Intelligence and purity.

Yup, he was a guest star as Randolph Cummings in season 4 and then at the end of the season he returned as Andrew. I also noticed that Jason Leland Adams played Custer in the season 3 finale and the very next episode to air when season 4 premiered, he was back permanently as Preston. Probably enough time had passed with the summer hiatus that it wasn't as obvious but it was something that stood out for me when I rewatched on DVD. There were several actors who played more than one character on this show, I've noticed.

I heard what happened is guest actors would get a role and Beth liked some of them so much she'd offer them something more permanent. There were some that didn't work out, too, and had to be replaced. They had a big cast and a whole bunch of extras. It's one of the things that made it seem so real.

"How was the war, sir?"
"As any war, ma'am, a waste of good men." (Poldark)
