She certainly showed herself as having a remarkable young talent, but has more or less disappeared without trace. Strange, because she showed a lot of promise. Perhaps she is the daughter of the director Peter Hall, and decided that life had more to offer elsewhere. Shame!
She did appear in a couple of television programmes after this. She also had done a lot theatre work recently. I agree she should have a much higher profile.
Recently quite alot and yes she has fulfilled her early promise. She was in the BBC adaptation of Wide Sargasso Sea as Antoinette. She was in 'Starter for ten.' AND was wonderful as Christan Bale's wife in 'The Prestige'
and if you check out the imdb entry for her now, you will see she is in woody allens spanish project and frost/nixon. four years after the question was asked, she seems to be back into film. perhaps she read this post and decided to show that she's still about!!
She left Cambridge University in 2002 at the end of her second year. After that she appeared in a West End play in the autumn of 2002, and then she did a couple of summer seasons with the Peter Hall Company at the Bath Theatre Royal in 2003 and 2004. As previous posters have noted, she has recently done quite a lot of film and television work. She has a part in Stephen Poliakoff's TV drama, 'Joe's Palace', which is scheduled to be broadcast on BBC1 this autumn.
Rebecca was only 10 years old when the Camomile Lawn was released and I imagine it was filmed during the school holidays. I believe she attended Roedean and then went on to Cambridge. Clearly favouring a solid education rather than a compromised one and becoming a child actor. Recently Rebecca played Paula Garland in the trilogy Red Riding - 1974. Paula is the mother of one of the missing children and becomes one of life's victims trying to deal with her grief. The portrayl of such a diverse character to that of Sophy is truly remarkable.
At the moment Rebecca is playing the part of Viola in Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and has received critical acclaim for her performance as well as starring in a number of films.
I believe we are going to see even more quality work from Rebecca in the future.
I'm surpeised nobody has mentioned, although Alison Winter nudged at it, Vicky Christina Barcelona, a lovely film with Anton Chigurrh (?) as somebody who is not a murderer!!!!!!
Scrolling down, yelling VICKY CRISTINA BARCELONA, I was also surprised that nobody mentioned it by name. Put it this way, Rebecca Hall quietly outclassed the Swedish superstar Scarlett Johansson, that's all.
