Famous Actors I Regonised

I would hardly call them famous.

Robert Llewellyn was Kryten in Red Dwarf.

Mark Arden played the stall holder who gets shot in the eye in Apocalypse. He played Vaseline in London's Burning in the 80's.

Patsy Rowlands played Spudguns mum was in Carry On Films and other British comedies

Mark Williams, best known as Arthur Weasley in the Harry Potter series, has a minor part in the episode where Richie gets both his legs broken at his birthday "party". Clive Mantle, who had a lead role in Casualty for years, was recently in the Sherlock episode which dealt with the Hound of the Baskervilles. He played the evil scientist. He is married to Carla 'My Parents Are Aliens' Mendonça. Julia Sawalha played barmaid Veronica Head. She's best known as Saffron in Absolutely Fabulous. In the same episode, Tight Mouth Larry is played by Chris Langham, who was in The Thick Of It opposite Peter Capaldi, until he became infamous for possessing child pornography and his career was destroyed. Victor Spinetti played the maitre d'hotel in the penultimate episode. He appeared with The Beatles in three of their films: A Hard Day's Night, Help!, and Magical Mystery Tour. Paul Bradley, the sellotaped burglar, was Nigel in Eastenders and latterly in Casualty and Holby City as Elliot Hope. Helen Lederer, who is a staple of British comedy, has two parts: the receptionist at the hospital who Richie wipes blood on, and his posh date who he fails to shag after his kidney backfires. In the same episode the "Love Bureau" woman is played by Lisa Maxwell. She was in The Bill for years and also was one of the Loose Women who shout a lot on ITV daytime.

So, there's quite a few recognisable faces, if you're prepared to be loose with your definition of "famous".

One that hasn't been mentioned is Liz Smyth, most famously Nana from Royle Family, who plays the fortune teller who tells Richie he's going to die at the fair.

The guy who played the Gas Man was a prominent caharcter in an episode of Cracker.

Kevin McNally from Pirates of the Caribbean was the sex shop proprietor in Bottom 'Smells' (the very first episode).
