Sailor Stars..anyone else not a big fan?

Just wanted to see if anyone else felt let down by the last season of the show? While I was raised on the Dub(and do enjoy it for what it is...yes dont kill me lol) I have watched many episodes from all the different series subbed and the movies plsu the whole live action series...yet watching the whole of Stars this past week on DVD I was left feeling...numb and let down.

I felt the inner Sailor Senshi weren't as close to Usagi. I know they all were chasing the Star lights but the "love" wasn't there... I know they wanted to focus on the new charters and the the whole Seiya and Usagi parts were interesting. But it lacked the charm of the previous episodes to me...the first series is so charming and epic maybe that's why I am upset on how it ends. Yes the last battle was wonderful and the part I enjoyed most was at the end when Usagi says shes "16 years old....ect" and the first theme song played.

Dunno just want to see other peoples take on it.

I for one liked it, it had a few grown up subejts that had me blinking in mild confusion, plus I liked the comedy and the one sided love that Seiya had for Usagi. Mostly I just like the entire series.

Meh...Stars started out great with the return of Nehelenia...and ended wonderfully with all of the death scenes.

But the middle...it did feel a little bit redone. Like, it was the same-old formula. But when it was reused in seasons 1-3, it still felt fresh. Here, it was like "I've seen these characters before (not physically of course)"...

Still, I liked it, and I'd put it above SuperS any day. Though, you can't go wrong anywhere.

I'm not really a big fan of Sailor Stars. I agree it started amazingly with Nehellenia arc but the rest of the season seemed bland to me. It was too much focused in Starlights and Sailor Moon and the rest of the senshi were forgotten. Where the hell were Saturn and Pluto? Setsuna appeared in ONE episode of Galaxia arc before the final battle, but Saturn didnt even appeared! It was a wasted chance IMO.

Anyways, I prefer Sailor Stars over SuperS and even Classic.

There were definitely polarizing aspects of Stars. Overall, it is one of my favorites (with S and the first season). Please keep that in mind as I list some of my gripes:

For some weird reason, I get very defensive of Usagi and the classic senshi, and I don’t like it when attention gets taken away from them. Up until Stars, it was actually one of the main reasons why I hated Chibi-usa so much. That said, I didn’t like the fact that there was another princess out there guarded by senshi who were taking up screen time. The whole princess-guarded-by-senshi thing was Usagi’s turf. I know it’s irrational and might not make sense unless you had the same reaction, but I couldn’t help it. Over time I grew to accept the Starlights, although I’ll never love them as much as the planetary senshi. I do understand their importance to the series, though, and especially to the fandom. The acknowledgement of senshi beyond our solar system is what I believe truly kicked otaku senshi into high gear.

For a long time, the Starlights were a prickly subject for me not only because they took up attention as senshi, but also because Seiya encroached on Mamoru’s territory. I am a die-hard Usagi/Mamoru fan, so this was obviously problematic. My initial instinct was to hate the *beep* out of Seiya. It took me years to give Seiya a fair shake, and I was only able to do it after getting over the “threat” and fully realizing that it was never really an issue, because Usagi and Mamoru would always be together. I had no real reason to hate Seiya if he didn’t win Usagi; since he didn’t, there was no longer a problem. Seiya also got a strike against him by challenging Haruka, but after a while I found that dynamic to be interesting, and I loved the fact that the tension existed. In my eyes, Haruka will always be tougher and better than Seiya, but it was cool to see that issue arise and it was totally in-character for both of them. Now I appreciate and even like Seiya, as long as he is kept in his place.

The animation in certain episodes was just downright bad, and it hurt me to admit that as a fan. I didn’t want to accept that such an important anime was cutting down on its budget. And that Usagi’s face looked distorted. And the rigidity of Pluto and Saturn’s death scene…. Guh. I am not really a fan of remakes at all, but I can see how many fans out there would love to see Stars get re-animated.

And even though I LOVE THE STARS THEME SONG, part of me will always feel a little upset that the final season didn't keep the same song as all the others.

I'm not a fan of Sailor Stars either. It was OK but I guess what did it in for me was what did all of the non-first season Sailor Moon shows in for me (again I'm just guessing): new character(s) coming and stealing the show, turning it into Usagi, the new characters and the Inner Senshi as opposed to just Usagi and the Inner Senshi so with more characters my favourites Mercury and Mamoru are comparatively less important kind of like how if there's more money around then one dollar is worth less than if there wasn't as much money.

This is yours, that is yours, so what? It's everybody's planet.

I believe the disconnect was from the fact that they did not stay true to manga and reveal chibi-chibi as Sailor Cosmos, they removed Tuxedo mas too early in the season.....I really enjoyed it, I thought both the Manga and stars moved away from Sailor Moon as they typical school-girl and explored Sailor moon as a woman, they really need to add more connections to the future like they did in Sailor Moon R. I really wish Naoko would explore adding another arc to the Sailor moon Manga post stars involving future past and present of the Sailor Wars.
