Was it because of the whole thing with Toei and them getting rid of Sailor Moon, the Sailor Stars series really left a bad taste it my mouth, it was great, but I have always been dying to find out what happened when Sailor Moon/Sailor Cosmos went back to the future.....Naoko could have done so much with that character.....
shareI seem to recall hearing that she only intended to do one year, but it was so successful, she was persuaded to do more.
That being the case, she was bound to quit eventually.

You're correct, she only intended to do one short story arc, ending it with the senshi being killed. Her editor to her to continue the manga so the anime did created the filler arc (Ali and En) to give her time to make her next story arc (Black Moon).
