Smoking like chimneys
I am watching the whole 3 series back to back on DVD (I work away from home and have much time to spare !). I am half way thru BTL series 2.
I agree the quality is excellent so far. Good individual episode plots plus some interesting threads that run thru all the episodes. The DVD's were money well spent. I didn't watch the series when it was broadcast in the early 90's but friends told me it was good.
Another delight is spotting all the actors who were new then but are well established now (eg Daniel Craig, John Shrapnel, John Hannah, Jack Shepherd, Jerome Flynn). Seen quite a few of the lesser names in things like the Bill (eg Jaye Griffiths). Tom Barnaby's wife from Midsommer Murders also makes an appearance.
The one thing that jars in 2007 is the amount of smoking that goes on. Seems like every character has to light a fag at the start of each scene. I know that smoking & cigarettes are the actor's device to fill silences etc but it's really very pronounced.
I find that a lot with many old films & tv progs and I recognise that BTL is 15 years old but it's really caught my eye !
