Netflix Surely???

Given the success Netflix had with a remake of the BBC's House of Cards. Surely, Between The Lines, as one of the best cop shows the beeb has ever broadcast, is ripe for a Netflix remake too???

I think Line of Duty is a worthy modern successor to Between the Lines which is also made by the BBC.

I don't think BTL needs remaking, but I'd love to see the original 3 series on Netflix so those who remember it from the 90s can re-watch it and hopefully it can gain the wider audience that it really deserves.

I know some people would complain BTL seems very dated these days (with plenty of politically incorrect attitudes, mullets and constant smoking), but I enjoy spotting the changes of the last 20 years and I know the quality of the writing and acting stands the test of time.

Oh I certainly agree BTL doesn't need a remake and yes it would be great for the original to be on Netflix. It's just that the aspect ratio isn't going to make the original show attractive to the modern day mainstream viewer.

Given the success Netflix had with House of Cards, I can easily imagine them doing a skillful remake of BTL aimed at modern day American issues. Especially when you think of the racial tension in America and police relations. Far from dated, the issues (and political incorrectness) are just as topical as ever.

A remake would also shine a deserved new light on the original, just as Netflix' House of Cards has done.
