Yeah, but Freddy Kruger is a fictional character. The Joker is fictional to us, but he's real to that kid. It's not like the kid having a Freddy Kruger poster. It's like having a Charles Manson poster.

I rewatch the episodes all the time and have never seen actual smoke production. I think he just holds it in his mouth, akin to someone holding a stalk of wheat in their mouth, or someone who chews gum or chewing tobacco. That help? :)
