What are the scariest episodes in the whole series?

reply

The Tale of the Laughing in the Dark
The Tale of the Dead Man's Float
The Tale of the Night Shift
The Tale of the Dark Music
The Tale of the Crimson Clown

reply

ITA with dark music. Easily the darkest ending out of the original series.

You might wanna put on a bathing suit cuz you'll be channel surfin in no time!

reply

I have no idea how the episode even got on Nick. The creepy voice in the dark basement, the doll, the ending. It's a really dark episode.

reply

What does ITA mean?

reply

It means I totally agree :)

reply

And The Tale of the Quicksilver!

reply

Far and away, The Tale of The Lonely Ghost.

reply

Really? I never thought that one was very scary. It is a really good one though. It kinda goes along with The Dream Girl, The Frozen Ghost, and The Jagged Sign as the series most sad episodes.

reply

any more additions of scary episodes? lol

reply

Well, the moment when the ghost appeared in the mirror scared the hell out of me. So yeah, it's scary for me.

But I don't know if I'd call it sad especially since the mother and daughter are reunited in the end.

reply

I guess it does have somewhat of a happy ending, but I still think it's still overall a pretty sad episode.
OP here's some other scary episodes
The Tale of the Ghastly Grinner
The Tale of the Phone Police
The Tale of the Midnight Madness
The Tale of the Twisted Claw
The Tale of the Bookish Babsitter (More fun than scary, but it has a few solid scares)
The Tale of the Dollmaker
The Tale of Apartment 214
The Tale of the Quicksilver
The Tale of the Quiet Librarion
The Tale of the Super Specs

reply

The ones I find to be the most eerie and intense:

The Tale Of The Dead Man's Float.
The Tale Of The Night Shift
The Tale Of The Midnight Madness
The Tale Of The Laughing In The Dark
The Tale Of The Dark Music
The Tale Of The Water Demons

In no real order.

reply

Actually, our world got the bad end of the deal with the cousin. So I guess you can call it sad, for this world that is.

reply

Yeah, the mirror could have kept that annoying skank.

I've never seen that. I've never seen anybody drive their garbage down to the street and bang the hell out of it with a stick. I-I've never seen that.

reply

I don't know any episode names, but the scariest one for me by far was the one with evil dead people that lived in the lake and crept out onto land to kill people whenever they fell asleep, brrrr! Still gives me shivers and I'm almost 28 years old! I enjoyed most of the other episodes but that one was too traumatic for me!

Numero dos would be the one with the creepy voice in the basement, I seem to remember it ate some kid's friend and then gave him a bicycle as a present??

I didn't like the dollhouse one either.

The mirror... it's broken.
Yes, I know. I like it that way. Makes me look the way I feel.

The Tale of the Water Demons
The Tale of the Dark Music
The Tale of the Dollmaker

Those are the three you're thinking of :).

reply

Thanks mate. :)

On an unrelated note, I love your quote. The Burbs is awesome.

reply

The Tale Of The Dark Music
The Tale Of The Dark Dragon
The Tale Of Quicksilver
The Tale Of The Water Demons
The Tale Of Dead Man's Float
The Tale Of Bigfoot Ridge
The Tale Of Many Faces

reply

The ones that have stuck with me through the years are Laughing in the Dark and, the most terrifying to me, Dead Man's Float. Even being almost 29 years old, I can't watch that creature; it freaks me the eff out! Seriously, I watch the epi in side glances once the creature has the chemical interaction and you can see him.

reply

Top 5
Tale of the Ghastly Grinner - still terrifying
Tale of the Night Shift
Tale of Dead Man's Float
Tale of the Quicksilver
Tale of the Water Demons

reply

It's totally The Tale of the Night Shift for me. The red-eyed vampire stalking a darkened hospital that is asleep for the night? It just got to me as a kid.

Of course nowadays, I couldn't help but laugh at a practical effect near the end of the episode when I saw it again a few years ago xD It's when the vampire is set on fire and falls off the hospital roof. There's this cut where the "vampire" is clearly, CLEARLY a feather-light dummy set on fire because it's kind of floating down rather than plummeting like a body would.

I'd say that the episode and vampire still hold up, though.

Second would be The Dead Man's Float. For those who have seen the episode, you know what I'm talking about.

And third would be The Bookish Babysitter. There was this scene I remember where the kid starts reading, and suddenly there is this black-clad ghost gliding slowly through the hallway.

Number 1 - THE TALE OF THE SHINY RED BICYCLE

This is the scariest episode, by far.

reply

This of all episodes was the first one I saw. Needless to say, it took me years until I could keep the channel on whenever that intro began.

reply

The vampire in The Tale Of The Night Shift scared me so bad. The only time the show ever frightened me. I remember watching the episode the night it premiered and when my Mom saw it was scaring me she changed the channel. It wasn't until years later on YouTube I watched it in full. It's a very good episode for sure and among the scariest by a long shot.

reply

The Tale of the Super Specs scared me SO much when I was younger.

reply

Oh my god, me, too. I was convinced there was this, like, whole creepy shadow world around me that I just couldn't see without those glasses :)

reply

The ones that I remembered being scared by the most as a kid were The Tale of the Dark Music and The Tale of Laughing in the Dark. I have been watching the show on Amazon Prime Instant Video and I still find those two to be the scariest.
