Sassy Magazine (september '92)

okay, i just picked up an old copy of sassy magazine my sister had in a box in my parent's old house, and this show was along with 5 other shows that were considered the "6 beverly hills, 90201 Rip-offs". Granted sassy magazine didn't like 90201, it (predicted considering this was the only show that didn't give the teen'rag a copy of the pilot to review) gave this show a B+ and thought it would be one of the big series to take off. the other shows that were mentioned were:
Covington cross (B)
The Roundtable (C-, because it had extreme hispanic & black stereotyping)
The Heights (C+, and the only show on the list i had heard of)
Freshman Dorm (B-)
Class of '96 (A)

i think, i might have heard of class of '96, but not not 2000 malibu road, freshman dorm or any of the others. do you guys know if the other shows were any good? or if this show is worth looking for & downloading from some bit torrent?

from,

p.s.: i must add, casting this group of "has-beens" is a great idea, and it seems great! drew barrimore as tuesday knight's sister... that's very good casting!

i wouldn't call this a 90210 ripoff except for the good looking rich lifestyle factor ... it was an excellent show and well worth it if you can find copies ... please post if you do find as i haven't seen it since it aired and would love to check it out again ... the show actually did good ratings in the first few airings it was on in the summer so what did they expect but it was big for a summer series back then

if drew barrymore were still a big actress it may stand a shot at being released on dvd like they did with second chances (another show that did good in the ratings but the riots ruined the set and they decided to halt production) but when jennifer lopez got really big, they released it on dvd ... a classic in my eyes

I watched a few episodes of covington cross and it wasn't as good as I hoped.I absolutly love renaissance times and thought this would be a good show but...ehhh not so much.

I wouldn't consider "Round Table," "The Heights," or "2000 Malibu Road" as 90210 rip-offs since they were also Aaron Spelling's productions.
