Anyone here seen the ova's. Which do you think was better and why?

I've just finished watching the ova's my local videostore Washi's had them along with the original live action film. I thought the ova's were noticeably better than the original film mostly because they developed the character of iria a lot more than in the movie. I also liked the idea that zeiram wasn't a bio weapon but was really a naturally occurring alien and that there was even an entire species of zeirams somewhere in the universe. I also liked the character of kei a lot and thought that the twist about her near the ending of the series was very unexpected.

Yeah the OVAs are better, characters more fleshed-out. Movie still rocks, tho.

I think the OVA's are superior for all the reasons you listed. Also, because of the technology of the time, it was much easier to convey it's true vision through animation.

The Movie. No contest. The OVA just represents why prequels are generally a bad idae to begin with. It did not match up to the story of the movie and just punched a bunch of holes in the plot. Why did it make the AI assistant of Iria human? Why the invented and abandoned subplot of the evil corporation? How can Iria have faced and killed this thing before and yet know nothing about it at the beginning of the movie? The OVA had no purpose in existing and only contradicts the story it was supposed to be setting up. Also, Iria very clearly KILLS the Zeiram at the end of the OVA, so what the hell is that thing in this movie? The OVA was just bullshiest in a can.
