How badly edited is the american version?

Badly I guess... Never watch the american version but this movie contains so many chinese martial arts philosophy and words which are hardly have a proper translation in English. :/

Badly, whoever they got to do the subtitles and editing was from some sort of hospital for the violently deranged.
