So unbelievable,it is infuriating!

While the acting is great, and the scenery is a feast for the eyes, the story is ridiculous, beyond belief! It is hard to even comprehend why anyone would even want to make such a stupid and unbelievable tale into a movie! Even weirder is that according to those who have read the book, the film is a faithful adaption to it! This is a case where there 'should' have been MAJOR changes to make it a more believable story.Instead it comes off as STUPID,STUPID,STUPID,and all I can feel after viewing it,is YEAH,RIGHT! I wouldn't want to view this again, even for the scrumptious scenery.

It is not as implausible as you think.

I have to agree. The Harriton character was hopelessly dense. In the climatic scene it was almost as if he were half asleep, so disconnected he was from what was going on. I suppose that was the point, but I found it very frustrating indeed.

I feel that the book and film are brilliant... perfect... and completely plausable.

Yes, it was kind of absurd. Why did they all want to take the baby to England - it was no blood relative to them? And why did they do it so clumsy? As for the mesagge: I´m getting tired of stuffed Anglo-Saxons, coming to Italy or south of France and finding liberation there!
