Should'nt she of broken her neck instead of just being unconscious and die??
shareNot necessarily. Falling down the stairs doesn't automatically end with a broken neck every time.
Blanche could have hit her head & had bleeding in her head or had some other major injury that could have killed her instantly or could cause her to die if she didn't get immediate attention.
Remember- Blanche is an old lady & one who hasn't been active, plus has been starved. She'd be way more fragile than the average person or even the average older person, so it would be more likely that any damage done to her would put her in shock that much faster & mean death that much more quickly.
It's just that cinema seems to be so incosistent in it's portraying the results of a victim of an physcal accident.It's like an old person in extremely fragile shape can fall down the stairs not breaking her neck but if she had hit her head anf had bleeding or some other fatal injury that would of killed her right away but instead she lies unconscious on the floor but winds up waking back up eventually and having survived something like that though she already was at near death.Just surprised with all the physical shape she was in it did'nt finish her off.But then in another movie you would see a completelyhealthy oyounger person have a physical accident that someone in real life would of made it thrugh but in the movie they'd die instantly.Then we have an older person making it through a physical accident already in bad shape survive it and not die right away.Hollywood does seem a bit on the stereotypical side don't they?
