this(wedlock) was the closest thing to a movie i remembered from when i was a kid that i saw on tv one sunday. basically there's this prison and the landscape is desert-like and people are partnered up with the whole collar thing and this one guy starts to run for it and he crosses out of the safe zone and his head eventually explodes. it causes him a great deal of pain before it does. the setting reminded me a lot like the coliseum from 'gladitor'.

i saw this(wedlock)recently and i know what i just described sounds a lot like it but rutger hauer isn't "the hero" or even in it, pretty sure.

I think ur thinking of the running man, pretty sure at the start they have collars and one of em runs for it and gets his head blown off!!!!!!!!

Fortress with Christopher Lambert has the exploding implant in each prisoner's belly...and they seem to be in quite a lot of pain if they cross the safety zone.
