Rutgers vulnerability in this movie....

This has to be one of Rutgers more vulnerable roles. He does'nt come over tough at all, like his 80's/mid 90's action movies. He usually kicks arse in most movies. Not this movie. Basil Wallace knocks him around a bit, before he activates the neck device with the stick.

Totally agree, just watched it for the first time in about ten years and was happily surprised by Rutger's playing against type as a meeker criminal-electronics-whiz. He still comes out as a badass in the end, but nothing like before. It's weirdly upbeat for a movie whose major conceit is head explosion. Like Michael Madsen in Kill Bill vol. 2, they must have decided to strip away the hard man aspect, which was probably refreshing for him.

Yes, I noticed the same thing. Frank Warren is definitely not the bravest, toughest hero, he's ever played.🐭

He does get knocked around a bit, but it looks like he's mostly avoiding fighting and wants to hold back. It's like he's scared. A total different character from his other movies.

For anyone who enjoyed seeing a more vulnerable side of Rutger, I highly recommend the movie Past Midnight (1991).
