Remake?

With all the remakes going on, I think this one is ripe for a re-do.

but only if they keep Kathleen Turner in the lead role.

Remake? yes. Kathleen Turner? no. Ms. Turner has aged 20 years since this movie came out, and not particularly well. Ms. Warshawski, on the other hand, has not. Unless they're "remaking" it from the standpoint of one of the recent books. Even so, I'm not sure Ms. Turner would pass for 45 or 50, even though she's only 55 herself. I think she's got the right persona, but she no longer has the right look. But I will always picture her whenever I read the books, regardless of the far different description of her given in the books.

Frankly, I'd love to see a remake, but only if they're going to be more true to the original book than this was. I still can't figure out why they had to make the guy who died a member of the other family, rather than her cousin, and bring a kid into the mix. Personally, I think a ship crashing into the dock would have been much more fun.

I agree that it is a prime candidate for a remake but it should be done as a TV movie like the recent series of Jesse Stone movies with Tom Selleck. I have not had a chance to read the books for this, but I did enjoy the movie. Saw it again last night on Flix and still enjoyed it. Unlike a lot of men, I really like movies with strong female leads; especially in a mystery.

I concur, I don't think Turner would be able to portray this part anymore. As she's not particularly young (and her substance abuse has aged her considerably more than she should have) she's no longer bankable in Hollywood films and they simply wouldn't hire anyone over forty.

If they did a remake of this, they would probably get someone ridiculously obvious like Angelina Jolie...someone who can pull off an action cop detective type role and still bring in the male audience members.
