I am trying to find a DVD of Urga with English sub-titles. So far no luck and those offered don't specify. Can you help anyone out there? Rick [email protected]

Can you give more details? I have copied the VHS version onto DVD myself for convenience's sake (our VCR is mostly packed away nowadays), but the quality is obviously not that good. Have you got a shop bought DVD with English subtitles? Have you bought and then ripped the original DVD and added the subtitles yourself?

I think this is the same as Close to Eden, released in the US in 1991, directed by Nikita Mikhalkov, about a Russian truck driver who gets stuck and is found by a Mongolian. The Mongolian shepherd Gombo lives with his wife, three children and grandmother in a tent on the Mongolian steppe. They are pleased with their rustic conditions, until a Russian truck driver, Serguei, gets stuck with his truck nearby. The cultural gap between Gombo and Serguie seems invincible. But maybe they can learn a few things from each other?
