Why did it go out of print?

Does anyone know why it went out of print? Alan Rickman went on to have such a huge career after this, and now he's a huge star because of the Harry Potter movies. I don't understand why it would be allowed to go out of print. I keep checking Amazon, but there are only used copies, and people charge almost $150 for it. And you just can't trust buying DVDs from third party sellers.

I have an old VHS tape of it, but it stopped working.

I don't get why it's never on TV either. Such a beautiful love story. Witty and warm. I just can't say enough good things about it. My favorite Alan Rickman movie.

Totally agree with you. I was recommending it to a student which reminded me that I only had a VHS copy. Went to Amazon to buy the DVD and was appalled by the price-- even checked Amazon UK which was a little bit more reasonable but still terribly overpriced. This is the very type of movie that deserves to be re-released and sold at a price which everyone can afford. It's such a gem, and one that anyone who has lost a loved one really needs to see. And, of course, Alan Rickman is so loveable in this!!!

As it's not even on iTunes, I guess there's some sort of rights issue going on.

I've been looking for this film for ages, found it at last on Youtube.

Because the movie sucked.

Is that the reason it gets a 7.3 rating on IMDB?

Rome! By all means, Rome.

It is available again. In the UK you can get it on both DVD and Blu-ray (see https://www.amazon.co.uk/Truly-Madly-Deeply-Alan-Rickman/dp/B079X59MT9).
